2023 Ford F-150 Trims Explained

It takes a variety of elements to build a great truck that can offer different engine combinations or features. The 2023 Ford F-150 comes in six different trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. There’s also the off-road-oriented Tremor or Raptor editions, giving you a total of eight options.
From strong engines to cutting-edge technologies and a steel-boxed frame, the F-150 was built for difficult jobs and demanding circumstances. Learn more about the 2023 F-150 trim levels below.
2023 F-150 XL
As the base model, the XL is made for utility and heavy work, but the 2023 year brings new productivity and technology upgrades. Ford Co-Pilot360 and dynamic hitch assist are two new Ford SYNC technologies available on the 8-inch capacitive touch screen. The Ford F-150 includes standard two-bar-style black grilles and embellishments depending on the configuration.
The starting version of the new truck includes power windows, power door locks, keyless entry, power heated side mirrors, and a locking tailgate with lift assist. A 3.3-liter V-6 engine with 290 horsepower is standard, and you can choose to upgrade to a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid V-6, or 5.0-liter V-8 engine.
2023 F-150 XLT
The 2023 Ford F-150 XLT includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 suite of driver assistance technologies and offers a variety of upgrades. These include a Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sound system, intelligent adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a two-tone paint treatment, and extended running boards.
Along with most of the XL trim options, standard elements on the XLT include a black front grille with a chrome surround and black accents, 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, a rear fixed-glass window with a privacy tint and defroster, a lane-keeping system, and a cross-traffic alert. You’ll also get a SYNC 4 infotainment system with improved speech recognition.
2023 F-150 Lariat
The F-150 enters the high-end pickup market with the Lariat trim, which boasts a SuperCrew cab with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. Captain’s chairs with leather trim, leather-wrapped interior components, and a standard 12-inch swipe capacitive touch screen with SYNC technology are all included. Lariat zone lighting gives 360-degree illumination to the perimeter of the vehicle, which is mounted on 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with magnetic painted pockets. There’s an option to upgrade to 20-inch dark carbonized gray wheels too.
Other improvements added to the Lariat include a 360-degree camera mode, trailer reverse guidance, an adaptive suspension, and the more potent B&O Unleashed sound system with 18 speakers. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that comes standard can be upgraded to a hybrid V-6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, or 5.0-liter V-8 engine.
2023 F-150 King Ranch
The King Ranch is a blend of functionality and upmarket trim. Del Rio leather, wood accents, and Kingsville stitching are all featured on the center console. Heated and ventilated leather seating is available for the passenger captain’s chairs, and the second row offers power-folding heated bucket seats with a tip-and-slide function. The captivating 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with King Ranch wheel ornaments and magnetic-painted pockets are a highlight of this trim level.
A single-bar-style Stone Gray grille with a chrome surround and Stone Gray accents is standard. The powertrain includes either the 5.0-liter V-8 engine with auto start-stop technology or the full power boost hybrid V-6 engine.
2023 F-150 Platinum
The Platinum mimics the King Ranch and has a more upmarket urban vibe with more external chrome accents, heated and ventilated leather seats, front massage seats, 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, and electrically deployable running boards. The Platinum is also available in black or Carmelo color options. A B&O Unleashed 18-speaker audio system, Co-Pilot360 assist 2.0, and Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist are available. Similar to the King Ranch, you receive a 5.0-liter V-8 engine as standard, but you can upgrade to a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 or a 3.5-liter power boost full hybrid V-6.
2023 F-150 Limited
The F-150 Limited is the apex model in terms of luxury and uses the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V-6 engine with auto start-stop technology. The Admiral Blue interior’s leather-coordinated bucket seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel are exceptional additions, along with a wireless charging pad, 22-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels, power-deployable running boards, and a twin-panel moonroof.
2023 F-150 Tremor
The 2023 Tremor offers a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine with auto start-stop technology, special tuning, and 400 horsepower. It also has aggressive 18-inch dark matte finish alloy wheels, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and an increased 9.4 inches of ground clearance. Softer damping is possible at low speeds due to a whole host of off-roading improvements.
The interior design is distinctive due in part to the Tremor logo and optional bucket seats with leather upholstery. Finally, the Tremor offers towing hooks and monotube shocks, both bearing the trim’s logo.
2023 F-150 Raptor
The Raptor is Ford’s most capable off-roader, using the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine to output 450 horsepower and a notable 13.1 inches of ground clearance. It also has enormous 34-inch all-terrain tires, fox racing shocks, front and rear shock absorbers, a stronger suspension, and a 44 Hi-Lock transfer case. Broader, heavy-duty skid plates offer significant protection for the truck’s undercarriage, with steel front and rear bumpers completing the look.
2023 Ford F-150 Body Types
Beyond trim level and bed size, the 2023 F-150 is available in three body styles: Regular, Super Cab, and SuperCrew. The Regular and Super Cab are offered in the XL and XLT trims, while the SuperCrew configuration appears on all models. The smallest variant, the Regular Cab, can accommodate three passengers on a single front bench. The SuperCab adds room for five people or six with the front bench. The SuperCrew is perfect for families or large work teams, with five or six seats and full-size rear doors.
