Toast & Taste

Given that it’s the season of Halloween, fall has a close association with spirits, but usually not the type you’ll encounter at Toast & Taste. Hosted by the historic Hay House, this event will feature some of the finest distilleries, wineries, and breweries in and around Georgia. Enjoy tastings of all varieties of libations, and discover the range of flavors that the Southeast can produce. To help soak up some of that goodness, there will also be food provided by some of the best establishments in the Macon culinary scene.

Macon Beer Fest

If the refreshments at Hay House weren’t enough for you, you’re in luck. A month later comes the Macon Beer Fest, which is, at once, a celebration of fermentation, a romping rendition of Oktoberbest, and an educational event raising awareness of the risks of prostate cancer. The Macon Beer Fest is a rather busy event. In addition to the 100-plus options of craft beer and wine, there will be numerous live musical acts, a host of vendors slinging grub and goods, and several noteworthy activities.

The event unofficially begins the night before the actual festival, with the 2.5-hour Rock & Roll pub crawl that takes you on a tour of three Macon breweries. The following morning, at 8 a.m., is another pre-festival event: the Pints Pacer 5K run to promote prostate cancer education. Later, during the festival itself, there will be a cornhole tournament and a one-mile Beer Run race, as well as free blood tests for prostate cancer screening.

As the Macon Beer Fest comprises numerous mini-events, several ticket types are available for sale via Big Tickets. General admission, though, is $35, while VIP tickets run $85.

15th Annual Central Georgia Greek Festival

You don’t need to be Greek to enjoy the 15th Annual Central Georgia Greek Festival at Macon’s Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. If you need anything at all, it’s an appetite for delicious Greek food, live Greek music, and dancing. Parishioners of the church will have prepared a mighty spread of Greek dishes and sweets, so have your fill as you enjoy the tunes and other festivities going on around you.

After enjoying the grub, we recommend walking it off by browsing the multitude of vendors selling their wares at the festival. Stock up on Greek products such as olive oil, spices, cheese, jewelry, and so much more.
